Days 13 - 16: Weekend Fun!

It's been another busy weekend for us! We are always on the go...always having fun! Friday we brought Miley to her home away from home for some puppy fun. Me, Danny and Kaleb headed out to Raleigh for a night out with the family!

We went to the Durham Bulls game with the family. I was a little disappointed with the customer service at the park. The website leads you to believe that everyone with a military ID gets a discount...but that's not true. Which is fine, but the ticket person was very rude about it. Not a fan of rude customer service!

We had great seats, the weather was perfect...and the beer was cold. The Bulls are apparently in first place...I'm not sure how, they lost 14-2 to the Yankees. They were awful! Kaleb got his fourth baseball since he's been here...and ate an entire bag of cotton candy in about 2 minutes. It was a fun night!

After the game Kaleb went back to Grandmas and Papaws, while me and Danny headed to the Carolina Ale House. We had some yummy food and drinks....but since we're old we were home at midnight. 

Saturday we headed back to Jacksonville, picked up the puppy (who had a great report card "very gentle with small dogs.") and lounged for a little bit. Then the guys headed out for some fishing and the girls headed to Wilmington.

We had dinner at K-38 Baja Grill. There quesedilias are SO yummy! And the prickly pear drink is yummyyyy! BIG FAN! After dinner we headed to Shakespeare in the Park. They were performing Much Ado About Nothing..which was interesting, they did the roles backwards. It was so buggy out, so we were eaten alive. Next time...bug spray!

 Speaking of bug spray, we didn't have any because the guys took it fishing. They didn't catch anything but Danny said Kaleb had a lot of fun!

We have no plans today...except restocking the fridge! It's been so hot that we go through water like there's no tomorrow!

Day 10: Play Ball!

Kaleb is now the proud owner of three baseballs, a mitt and a bat. He really needs to join a baseball team! 

Yesterday the boys played some baseball in the backyard..with invisible bases and Miley as their mascot!

It's been so stinkin' hot out. The boys were a sweaty mess when they came in, Miley has never drooled so much in her life...and my electric meter keeps going up. It's hot hot hot out there! Our grass is so brown because it hasn't rained much...and even though water is free it our apartment they never water the lawn! Drives me nuts!

Since it's been so hot, we've been spending a lot of time in front of the TV. I hate to admit it but....I'm a fan of iCarly. And it's on Netflix. So me and Kaleb have been zoning out in front of that after Danny leaves for work. It's the only thing that Kaleb him from saying "I'm bored." (Which is really annoying....)

The only thing worse than "I'm bored" is "I want." This kid wants everything! So, since we are giving him an allowance we are trying to teach him about money. He wanted toy cars yesterday so he had to choose...save the money or get the cars. He chose the cars. And now he wants a super-soaker....

Day 8: Beach, Baseball & Bowling!

Yesterday we loaded up the dog and the kiddo and headed to the beach! The beach isn't that far from us, half hour tops. Kaleb must have the smallest bladder ever because for the first time ever we had to stop to use the bathroom on the way to the beach! It's gonna be a long trip when we head up to Maine in a few weeks!

Miley and Kaleb did a whole lot of running on the beach! They ran in the water, on the sand, made some sand angels, Kaleb made a sandcastle that he dubbed "Sand-Cropolis" and Miley ate a crab (ew!)

After the beach we stopped at Dunkin Donuts, Kaleb's first time! He was a big fan of the blue raspberry coolada...he's already asked for another atleast five times!

After lunch the boys went out and got a baseball mitt. They played catch for a while..Kaleb has a pretty good arm on him. Baseball team in the future?

The night ended with some yummy pizza and two (awful) games of bowling. Bowling always seems like a good idea until you get there. After one game I get so bored! The boys had fun though and that's really all that matters!

I can't believe Kaleb has already been here for a week. It's flying by!

Day 5: Playground and Ball Parks

Danny's schedule is absolutely nuts lately. Sometimes he works nights, sometimes it's days and sometimes it both. Since he was working the day shift yesterday I planned a little trip to the park with Jacque and her kids. I was crossing my fingers that Danny would get out early so we could make it to the (free) Kinston Indians game!

The kids had a fun time at the park. I (obviously) don't spend a lot of time at kids parks so I didn't realize how weird some parents are. What kind of rule is it to not get dirty at a park? But as weird as the parents are some kids are just down right strange...apparently "don't talk to strangers" means nothing to kids!

The kids had fun! Lots of running around, swinging, sliding, and more running! It was impossible to get a picture of Kaleb, the second he saw the camera he was off running again!

When we got home we took a bike ride to my friend Deven's house to see her and the new baby. Five days old, the tiniest thing I have ever seen! While we were there I got a text from Danny saying he was home...but had to be back to work at 6:30. Same time the game started! So, me and Jacque made a plan that we would take all the kids!

It was military appreciation night at the game last night..that means, free! And the Kinston Indians were playing the Salem Red Sox, how appropriate since Jacque is from Ohio and I'm from Boston! We got our seats some cheap food ($10 bucks for two hot dogs, fries, popcorn and a drink..in Boston I would have taken a small loan to get the same thing!) and enjoyed the game! We had some super nosy southern chic sitting in front of us. Every time we said something she would answer us....loudly. Towards the end of the game she said "If you let me, I'll take the kids down to get autographs." Um...I think we can do that! The Indians won, the kids all got baseballs and some autographs! It was a great night! 

Our Adventures

Our first date was probably one of the best dates I have ever been on. It was much better than the average "dinner and a movie." We went to the lake. We soaked up some rays and hungout in the water. We talked and talked and never ran out of things to say. I think it was easier because we spent the first 2 weeks of our "relationship" texting, so we already knew a lot about each other. After the lake, we went out to eat and a got a few drinks. We probably drank a little too much for a first date. He ended up staying the night..which probably isn't great first date etiquette!

Two weeks later we got to spend his 96 together for the July 4th weekend. The weekend couldn't have started off more perfect. He surprised me by showing up in his uniform with a bouquet of beautiful roses! I brought him to Sonic, I love being the person to bring people for their first Sonic experiece! We saw Transformers (apparently his first movie in the theaters in six years..I'm starting to thing Ohio is actually under a giant rock!) The next day I took him to a baseball game, he hasn't been to a baseball game in forever! I think being from Boston gives me an unfair baseball advantage! On the Fourth we went to the lake, ate yummy sushi and hungout with some of my friends from back home. And of course we saw fireworks! It was a perfect weekend!

Last weekend was probably the biggest of our adventures. The original idea was for him and a few friends to drive out here to go to a free concert in Raleigh. However, it turned out to be "lets go to the show and then drive back to Jacksonville." I was all for it! That means I would be getting out of my house and able to spend time with Danny! We went to Topsail Beach with a bunch of his friends and a few of their girlfriends. I've gotten really close with one of the girls, Deven (who leaves to go back to Texas this weekend, which makes me sad!) I love that he brings me around his friends and that his friends actually seem to like me! My last night there the guys had formation and I was able to have girl talk with Deven. It was so easy talking to her about everything I was feeling. Her and her Marine are married, and not living together, so she totally understands how I feel about everything. I'm going to miss her when she goes back to Texas!

This weekend is going to be an adventure as well! Danny is picking me up tomorrow and we're going to spend a day in Wilmington. In a few weeks we'll be in Myrtle Beach. And for Labor Day...I'm bringing him back to Boston with me!

I just realized as I'm writing this that I should not get used to planning so far in advance. Which is going to be SO hard for me, I am a planner..it's what I do. It's now making sense to me why Danny is a "go with the flow" kind of guy. Maybe we should slow down with the plans..and go with the flow!

I feel like this post was one big ramble! Sorry! I just wanted to catch everyone up! Posts will be more normal from now on!!!
